Food Storage Potato Soup With Sausage

When most people think of food storage their mind is filled with pre-packaged meals and MRE’s.  While you can fill your pantry with those items you don’t have to.  Thanks to freeze dried foods you can create so many different meals including your favorite family recipes.

This potato soup is made from 100% dry THRIVE foods.  Most of the THRIVE line is freeze dried.  Freeze dried foods have an awesome 25 year shelf life and once opened you usually have 1-2 years to enjoy them.  All you need is a pot and some water and you are set.

Ingredients:
1/4 Cup THRIVE Butter Powder plus 1/4 cup water
3/4 Cup THRIVE Instant Milk plus 4 cups water
1 Cup THRIVE Sour Cream Powder + 1 cup water
2 1/2 Cups THRIVE Potato Chunks
2 Tbs THRIVE Freeze Dried Celery
2 1/2 Tbs THRIVE Onions
1/4 Cup THRIVE White Flour
1/2 Cup THRIVE Freeze Dried Sausage
1 Cup THRIVE Freeze Dried Cheddar Cheese*
1/2 Cup THRIVE Freeze Dried Mozzarella Cheese*
2 Tsp THRIVE Salt
1 Tsp Black Pepper

Place potato chunks in a bowl and cover with 1 1/2 cups warm water and set aside. Whisk butter powder with water in a small bowl.  Whisk instant milk with water in a large bowl.  Combine prepared butter powder with onions and 1/2 cup prepared milk over medium heat. Slowly mix in flour until it is dissolved.  Drain excess water from potato chunks and add to pot with remaining ingredients.  Simmer over low heat for 20 minutes or until desired thickness.  Be careful not to scorch the bottom of your soup.  Since this dish is thick you will need to stir frequently.
