Shelf Reliance Brown Rice

Shelf Reliance just announced one of four new products that they are launching this fall. Brown rice is a healthy alternative to white rice that provides the perfect foundation for yummy dishes like stir-fry, Hawaiian haystacks, or Spanish Rice.  Here is a recipe from Chef Todd featuring the new instant brown rice.


Creamy Chicken and Brown Rice

Serves 6

IngredientsInstructions
1tbsp. garlic
2tbsp. butter
11/2c. THRIVEMushroom Pieces (FD)
1/2c. THRIVE™ Chopped Onions (FD)
2c. THRIVE Instant Brown Rice
4c. water
2tbsp. THRIVE Chicken Bouillon
11/2c. THRIVESeasoned Chicken Slices (FD)
11/2c. cream
1/2c. THRIVECelery (FD)
1tsp. Italian seasoning
1bay leaf
1tsp.  season salt
1tsp. lemon juice
1c. THRIVEShredded MontereyJack Cheese (FD), reconstituted

Instructions
In a medium saucepan, sweat garlic and butter together. Add mushrooms, onions, and rice and stir well. Add water, bouillon, and chicken. Add remaining ingredients except cheese and bring to a simmer for 20 minutes. Reduce liquid until thick and creamy. Fold in cheese and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Makes 6 servings.
